The full story

How it was born, how it has changed and what it means.

The flag of Beneixida is a red field at the top and wavy stripes at the bottom. At the centre of the red there is a golden bell topped by a fleur-de-lis.

How it came about

Beneixida is a municipality in the province of Valencia, in the Plana Baixa. Its flag dates from 30 June 2016.

The lower part is formed by alternating bands of white and blue with the edges in the shape of a wave: three white bands separated by three blue ones. The sea takes up more than half the field.

How it has changed

No earlier versions are documented.

  • Fleur-de-lis

yellow, at the top of the bell.

  • Wavy stripes

in the lower part, alternating bands of white and blue with the edges in the shape of a wave.

  • No coat of arms

Fun facts

  1. The sea takes up more than half

Of the two areas of the field, the one with the wavy stripes is the larger. The red stays at the top as a head band, and the water dominates the whole.

  2. A bell, not a tower

The central figure is a bell with the fleur-de-lis at the top. The name of the municipality begins with Ben, a local way of saying “town” that comes from Latin.

  3. Six bands and the red is not straight

The lower edge of the red field is also wavy, like those of the blue bands. Only the line between the white and the blue is a pure cut of colour; the rest are waves.
