The full story

How it was born, how it has changed and what it means.

The flag of Almedíxer is a field divided horizontally in half: red above with a yellow tower next to the flagpole, green below.

How it came about

Almedíxer is a municipality in the comarca of Plana Baixa, in the province of Castellón. Its flag was approved on 18 January 2005.

The tower is the old fortress of the town, with three battlements and the masonry marked in black. The two laurel branches that accompany it are the other figure of the design.

How it has changed

It has never changed. It was approved in 2005 and there are no documented later modifications.

Fun facts

  1. The tower next to the flagpole, not in the centre

The tower is not in the centre of the field but against the flagpole. It is an asymmetric placement: it leaves the red free on the right and concentrates the figure at the point where the flag is hoisted.

  2. A golden tower, not of stone

The tower is yellow, with the masonry marked in black and lit. It is the same device as on the flag of Aielo de Rugat: a single figure in one colour, with the detail drawn on top.

  3. Red above and green below

The two halves are red and green. The flag is a landscape in two bands: the fortress and the field.
