The full story

How it was born, how it has changed and what it means.

The flag of Argoños is a field with three diagonal stripes of the same thickness: green on top, white in the middle and blue below.

How it came about

Argoños is a Spanish municipality. Its flag dates from 11 July 1996.

The three stripes are parallel and cross the field from corner to corner. None touches any corner: the green goes out by the flagpole, the blue comes in by the fly side, and between them is the white one.

How it has changed

No earlier versions are documented.

What it means

  • Green

the upper diagonal stripe, against the flagpole.

  • White

    the central diagonal stripe.

  • Blue

the lower diagonal stripe, against the fly side.

  • Edges

straight and parallel to each other.

  • No figures

no coat of arms, no border, no other figure.

Fun facts

  1. Three equal diagonal stripes

The three bands have the same thickness and rise from corner to corner. It is the same geometry as the flag of Algimia de Almonacid, but here the three fields are equal and none carries a figure.

  2. No stripe touches a corner

The green comes in by the flagpole edge and the blue goes out by the fly edge, but neither crosses the top or the bottom. That is why the three are offset and the field is not divided into equal parts.

  3. With no figure at all

There is no coat of arms or symbol. It is a purely geometric flag: three colours and three parallel straight lines.
