The full story

How it was born, how it has changed and what it means.

The flag of Arredondo is a field divided into two horizontal stripes of equal height: yellow on top and blue below. There is no figure at all.

How it came about

Arredondo is a municipality in the province of Albacete, in Castilla-La Mancha, in La Manchuela. Its flag dates from 28 August 1998.

It is one of the simplest flags that can be approved: two colours, two equal stripes and nothing else on top.

How it has changed

No earlier versions are documented.

What it means

  • Yellow

the upper stripe, half the height.

  • Blue

the lower stripe, half the height.

  • Separation

a straight horizontal line, with no ornaments or border lines.

  • No figures

no coat of arms, no border, no other figure.

Fun facts

  1. Two stripes and nothing more

There is no municipal coat of arms, not even a geometric figure. The flag is just the field divided into two equal halves. It is the minimum design that allows one municipality to be told apart from another by its colours.

  2. Yellow and blue, the colours of Castilla-La Mancha

The two colours are the ones the autonomous community uses on its own flag. It is usual for municipal flags to work within the palette of the territory instead of inventing new shades.

  3. The line that separates them is straight

The boundary between the yellow and the blue carries no border, no line in another colour and no bevel. Since the two fields are the same width, the straight line is the only thing that defines where each colour ends.
