How it came about

Bárcena de Pie de Concha is a municipality in the autonomous community of Cantabria. Its flag dates from 14 March 2002.

Unlike its neighbour Bárcena de Cicero, which also uses green and blue, here the two stripes are exactly the same height. That is the only difference between the two flags.

Fun facts

  1. Two neighbours, two similar flags

Bárcena de Pie de Concha and Bárcena de Cicero are in the same comarca and use two-stripe flags. The difference is in the colours —green and red here, green and blue there —and in the split: here the stripes are equal.

  2. Red and green, two equal fields

Unlike the flag of its neighbour, here no colour is dominant. The two halves weigh the same, and the flag reads as a clean cut in half.

  3. With no figure at all

There is no coat of arms, no symbol and no name written. The whole flag is two colours and a straight line.
