Fun facts

  1. A flag with a 5:8 ratio

Most Spanish municipal flags are 2:3. Belmonte de Miranda uses 5:8, a taller format that lets the coat of arms, with its three parts, read better.

  2. Six heads at the top

The Moorish heads wrapped in cloth are an emblem of the Reconquista, and there are six of them, not three. It is a number that fills the upper part of the coat of arms, which takes up half the shield.

  3. Two figures separated by a band

The lower quarter is divided in two by a diagonal band of gold: a lion on one side and three fleurs-de-lis on the other. The band with its basket-weave ends is what separates the two halves.
