The full story

How it was born, how it has changed and what it means.

The flag of Beniel is a field with three crimson castle towers on a yellow ground, in the upper half, and plain green below.

How it came about

Beniel is a municipality in the region of Murcia. Its flag is one of the symbols of the municipality.

The three towers are aligned in a row towards the flagpole side, leaving the right half of the yellow field empty. Each tower has an arched portal at the base, a battlemented body and a crown of three merlons.

How it has changed

No earlier versions are documented.

three, crimson, aligned in a row towards the flagpole.

Fun facts

  1. Three towers and half an empty field

The towers take up only the left half of the yellow stripe. The right side is completely empty, so the composition is asymmetric and the whole reads towards the flagpole.

  2. Towers that do not form a wall

The three towers are separated from each other, with visible space. They do not touch nor share a base: they are three independent buildings, not a continuous fortress.

  3. The arched portal at each base

The three towers have the same arched door, repeated. That repetition instead of a variation is what gives the group its unity and makes them read as a single repeated figure.
